Honda has set out to be an important asset in terms of battery electric cars. And it is that, although at present its models have been based on hybrid technology, such as the CR-V and HR-V, or also the Jazz, the Japanese brand knows that the objective is different. This is none other than lining up to produce more electric cars, like the Honda-e, although today it is the only one in the house.
Honda looks to take a step forward
The electrification of the car is the path that all the brands that make up the sector are taking. Honda is one of those that seems to be getting its act together, because with the presentation of the Urban EV and Sports EV it makes it clear that they have their technology almost ready for candy.
His plans, as part of the strategy followed, is to follow the path and launch what may be the next battery-powered electric cars because Honda wants to be ahead of its greatest rivals. And it is that, at present, the Japanese barely has zero-emission vehicles on the market that are 100% electric.
Yes, we have the Honda-e, as we say, a modern and highly technological model from the Japanese house (here is its technical sheet), which is characterized by having 110 kW power (150 hp), rear wheel drive and 220 kilometers of autonomy. Today, as we can see on the manufacturer’s website, its price is from 26,700 euros, although it is a fairly high price compared to its rivals and in relation to the autonomy offered. But, what is Honda looking for with its electric batteries? How do you plan to do it?
Honda’s strategy with its electric batteries
In 2021, and not because it was less expected, the Japanese gave the surprise with their Honda HR-V, a hybrid with important features that landed very well on the market. Given this, Honda has already declared that it will take another step towards its goal of having electric battery cars and offering its main fully electrified models in Europe. before the end of this 2022.
On a global level, Honda has the objective of increasing its sales of electric vehicles to 40% by 2030, 80% by 2035 and 100% by 2040. Thus, and after first launching the urban electric ‘e’ and then the Hybrid Jazz, the brand plans to introduce other sustainable models, all unified under the new brand ‘Honda e:TECHNOLOGY’.
In the United States, Honda works in alliance with GM to promote the electrification of the mobile fleet. They are developing two models of large electric vehicles with ultium batteries to be launched in 2024. Starting in the second half of the decade, Honda has plans to launch a new series of electric models with the new e: Architecture platform.

The next models that will arrive

Two of them are the Honda e:NS1 and e:NP1, electric batteries, which will arrive throughout this spring.
