The mystery is over. The name TrailSport recently registered by the Japanese company in the North American market is destined to baptize new versions of off-road character and aesthetics that will be available in its range of SUVs, crossovers and pick-up models.
A few months ago we were surprised to learn that Honda had registered the TrailSport designation with the US Patent and Trademark Office, the USPTO. A name that according to the documentation provided by the Japanese firm was intended for vehicles and different elements related to them and that clearly intended for off-road products, although at that time we did not know exactly what product it was related to.
As we assumed at first, either it was the name of a totally new model – which was more unlikely since the Japanese firm’s launch schedule in the different North American markets is well known – or was destined to baptize a new level of equipment or editions of the current catalog of the brand, as has finally been confirmed.

The Japanese firm has recently revealed that it is about to launch a new level of off-road spirit and aesthetics finish for some of the models that make up its current range, specifically its SUV cut models, so we can expect it to be available in the different SUVs and crossovers, in addition to the only pick-up of the brand, the Honda Ridgeline.
«Honda announces TrailSport, the next chapter for its rugged light trucks. Developed for adventure, TrailSport will bring a more robust design and off-road capabilities, applied step by step, to certain models of the brand’s range of light-duty trucks. When the first TrailSport editions hit dealerships later this year, they will drive the new rugged design orientation of Honda’s SUV products and become the standard for long-standing off-road capability, versatility and reliability. have been implemented in them. “
According to the description of the company in the teaser video released to confirm the arrival of these variants, future Honda TrailSports will have more aggressive and sporty off-road elements and aesthetics. The first model that appears in the teaser video is the Honda Passport, so we can hope that this is the one in charge of releasing these off-road editions.
