This city has been of vital importance for the region, since it was founded as a mining center, reaching an economic boom, and even became capital of Nueva Vizcaya and Chihuahua. In addition, it has been the scene of several events in Mexican history, such as the French Intervention or the assassination of Francisco Villa, which occurred on July 20, 1923.
