The first days of February took place the second event of the year for the Polkadot community in Argentina. It took place in Puerto Madero and included the participation of American technologists such as: Robert Habermeier, Co-Founder of Polkadot and Shawn Tabrizi, Core Developer of Parity Technologies, who shared their vision of the decentralized world on Web3. This was reported to Cointelegraph en Español by its organizers.
In this opportunity, the Web3 innovation talk was held in the main hall of “Madero Walk”, an elegant complex located in the heart of Puerto Madero, on the banks of the Río de La Plata.
The common thread of the conversation was the future of the network within the framework of interoperability in blockchains. The exhibitors shared their vision of the decentralized world on Web3 watched by Polkadot Blockchain Academy students and community members. The technologists also responded in detail to the questions asked Héctor Bulgarini from Parity Technologies, who hosted the event.

To begin, the speakers carried out a small summary of what the ecosystem experienced during 2022. “We are very happy with the performance of both Kusama and Polkadot, they both continue to receive parachains. To be honest, she is one of the few blockchains that did not crash. Things keep running and the teams keep working, it’s very goodRobert Habermeier mused.
Moments later, the talk delved into the opportunities that interoperability brings to those who build using Polkadot tools. In that sense, one of the highlights was XCM, a common language for building “cross chains”. Shawn Tabrizi interpreted it by saying: “It is as if Polkadot gave you a phone with which you can call wherever you want, and through XCM you can communicate and understand anywhere in the world.”.
One of the main advantages of XCM is that it allows sharing functions between different blockchainsand thus empower each other. Another key tool for resource optimization is “Block Space”which is understood, as detailed by Robert, as: “a way to look at which blockchains actually produce ‘something’. Block Space also allows you to see the ‘space’ available to continue creating within a blockchain instead of building a new one.”.
Then, the speakers highlighted some topics as key aspects to take into account for development within the Polkadot ecosystem, such as: the ability of blockchains to carry out several processes simultaneously, the importance of asynchronous coordination in work and the sending of smart contracts between different blockchains.
Finally, both Robert and Shawn expressed the challenges that, according to them, are expected for Polkadot in 2023. Among those that stand out are: the growth of usability, the strengthening of governance processes and the transmission of the value of blockchains as softwarebeyond its commercial value.
The day ended with an open space for networking, where all attendees were able to exchange their knowledge and ideas about Polkadot, an ecosystem that continues to grow and that has been betting heavily on the Latin American community.
