During the course of this morning, a fire was reported at the New Civil Hospital of Guadalajara, located between Salvador Quevedo and Zubieta and Sierra Morena, where more than 50 people had to be evacuated. Ambulances arrived at the scene of the fire to provide care to people and health personnel affected by poisoning.
According to agreements with local media, around 12:30 in the morning, the presence of Guadalajara firefighters was urgently requested at the hospital, located in the Independencia neighborhood of Guadalajara, indicating the presence of a fire that was preliminarily referred to in the air ducts derived from a short circuit.

Hospital patients and relatives were evicted from the hospital, without anyone mentioning the reason. The first statements commented that the presence of the smell of burning occurred mainly on floors 3, 4 and 12 of the hospital.
At least 11 ambulances arrived at the scene, including the municipal medical services, the Red Cross and SAMU Jalisco. According to other media, about 10 women, including nurses and doctors, began to present discomfort due to poisoning.
Preliminarily, between 250 and 300 people were evacuated. In addition, the authorities indicated that the fire arose after a failure occurred in the medical air compressor.

How to act during a fire in your workplace?
According to a Civil Protection guide from the Government of Mexico City, In the event of a fire in your workplace, follow the following recommendations.
- If you detect fire or smoke, give the alert voice immediately.
- Stay calm, try to reassure those around you.
- Call 911 emergency services as soon as possible.
- If there is smoke, crawl and, if possible, cover your nose and mouth with a damp cloth.
- Before opening a door, check that the knob or handle and its surface are not hot, if they are, do not open it, the fire may be behind it.
- Don’t use the elevators.
