At 55 minutes, the United States defense played on a razor’s edge. Then, Uriel Antuna took the ball from Zimmerman to go one-on-one with goalie Johnson to make it 1-0 in Arizona.

Mexico vs. United States: what’s next
After tonight’s friendly match, the Mexican National Team will officially return to action in two weeks and will face the United States again. The match will take place on May 15 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will be within the framework of the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League.
It should be noted that this commitment becomes extremely important for the ‘Tri’, since they have not beaten their North American rival for three and a half years: their last victory was in 2019, and Diego Cocca’s continuity on the bench of the national team will depend of said result.
Meanwhile, regarding the Gold Cup, Mexico’s first match will take place a week later (06/25) and its first opponent will be Honduras at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The ‘Stars and Stripes’ box, for its part, after colliding with the Aztec country in the Concacaf National League, will debut in the same tournament a day before against Jamaica at Chicago’s Soldier Field Stadium.
