This week, the HBO chain gave the green light to the series The Franchise. This will consist of a half-hour comedy, where indirectly the reason for ridicule will be the multi-million dollar Marvel and DC film projects.
With the acclaimed Sam Mendes (1917) in the director’s chair, The Franchise He will speak ironically about the creation of superhero movies. Or more specifically, it will show a “behind the scenes” of the fictitious production of a tape of this genre, headed for disaster.
An official synopsis of The Franchise from HBO, shared by The Hollywood Reportersays the following:
“The production team of an unloved franchise fights for its place in a wild and rebellious cinematic universe. The Franchise sheds light on the secret chaos that reigns in the world of superhero cinema, to raise the question: how exactly is cinematic sausage made? Because every shit has an origin story.”

And together with Armando, they have created a truly hilarious comic ensemble. I can’t wait to see more.”
The Franchise will be starring Himesh Patel (yesterday) and Aya Cash (The Boys). Both come from acting in the pilot of the series, which was filmed – under the direction of Sam Mendes – before the actors went on strike in Hollywood. Obviously, the filming of the rest of the episodes will not happen until the conflict between SAG-AFTRA and the big studios is resolved.

The cast of the show is complemented by Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead), Billy Magnussen (no time to die), Lolly Adefope (Ghosts), Darren Goldstein (ozark), Isaac Powell (Dear Evan Hansen), Richard E. Grant (Loki) and Daniel Brühl (Falcon and the Winter Soldier).
