Harrison Ford will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) from Phase 5 of the franchise, as revealed in October 2022. The unforgettable interpreter of Han Solo and Indiana Jones will now travel to the world of superheroes, wearing the shoes of the general Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, a character previously played by the late actor William Hurt in films like Avengers: Infinity War Y Black Widow.
At the moment, it is not known for sure what the arc of said character will be like once Ford enters the scene. But in the eyes of the veteran actor, precisely the ignorance that he had not only towards General Ross, but towards all the films of the interconnected universe of Marvel, prompted him to be part of it.
“Hey, look, I’ve done a lot of things. Now I want to do some things I haven’t done before.”declared the Oscar nominee to Playlist regarding his signing.
Not entirely satisfied with that answer, the outlet wanted to know if Harrison Ford would at least wear a suit. motion capture during the filming of one of the MCU titles that have already confirmed their participation. The question becomes especially valid when thinking about the comics, where General Ross eventually becomes the Red Hulk, a red version of Bruce Banner’s alter ego, for whom he ends up being a dangerous adversary.
Therefore, if the octogenarian actor had confirmed to Playlist that he will indeed use a suit motion capture for his debut in the franchise, he would have basically revealed the presence of the Red Hulk. However, Ford is well aware that Marvel Studios is not to be trifled with and that any leak of confidential information could cost him dearly. So instead of answering the question, he simply made a gesture of zipping his lips shut.
