While we are just a week away from Hades finally coming out on desktop consoles for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, Supergiant Games has commented on the possibility that their roguelite could have a sequel in the future. Idea that, at the moment, does not seem to cross their mind, but that is not entirely ruled out.
Asked if Hades will be ** a one-game hit »during an interview with NMELike other studio titles such as Bastion, Transistor or Pyre, Supergiant Games frankly comments “we don’t know.”
“We have never known in the past what will come next. We never plan our next game until we’re done with the one we’re currently working on, “says Greg Kasavin, writer and designer at Supergiant Games. “I think part of the reason is that there is a little superstition around that for our team because we want to make sure we are fully committed to what we are currently working on instead of, you know, counting our chickens before they hatch. “
“Much of what inspires our future games comes from our experience of working on previous games«, Explains Kasavin. Hades is very directly and significantly inspired by our third game, Pyre, which if you are familiar with him is very, very different from Hades in most respects. So I can say that what we do next will be heavily influenced by our experience with HadesBut that doesn’t guarantee much about the form it will take. ‘
In this way, Supergiant Games confirms that they will continue to make games and that they will be influenced by Hades thanks to their personal experience, but it does not have to be a direct sequel.
“The atmosphere of our games, the way the narrative and the game experience interact and are harmonious, the focus on character-driven narratives, the attention to the artwork and the musicThey are things that will remain ”, assures Kasavin. «The way we let you play the way you want, without getting bogged down with a single style, those are all the things that have mattered to us in each of our projects and, I imagine, we will keep worrying about it with what we proceed to do.
Hades will go on sale on August 13 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S (also available on Xbox Game Pass). It is currently available on Nintendo Switch and PC.
