There are already reactions to the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special! The short film promises to be one of the funniest of the year, in addition to serving as an expansion to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its branch of Special Presentationor what is the same: short specials that serve as bridges between their films.
Here, the Guardians are faced with their craziest adventure yet: giving Peter Quill the perfect holiday gift. And to achieve this, they will do risky things, but with a lot of heart. For this reason, the first critics already consider it a classic of the time. But pretty much all the accolades go to Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista, like Mantis and Drax.
Below are the first comments on the network, made by those who already had the opportunity to see it.
Andy Ortiz, of The Wrap:
“The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is so much fun. There’s not enough Nebula, but it’s the same old feeling for me. Lots of laughter and joy. And honestly, it’s hard to imagine a better career start for Kevin Bacon, I’m really excited to see where he goes from here.”
Brandon Davis of Comic Book:
“I watched the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special! Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista have fun together in moments of laughter. The nuance that James Gunn brings to the emotional punches is great and the little ties to the MCU are exciting for hardcore fans. Well done”.
Kevin Polowy, from Yahoo! Entertainment:
“The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is really enjoyable. I’ll be here for anything that celebrates the legend of The Legendary Kevin Bacon, but this is the Dave Bautista & Pom Klementieff aka ‘Drax & Mantis van Hollywood’ show, and they are a total mess. Especially when they’re drunk.”

Steven Weintraub of Collider:
“The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’ is so much fun and it made me smile a lot. Unlike everything Marvel does, they’re not introducing the next MCU movie or show here. It is exactly what the title sells: a Christmas special. If you are a fan of Drax and Mantis you will love it ».
James Viscardi of Comic Book:
“The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will melt the hearts of all you ‘No to Christmas before Thanksgiving’ purists. A feel-good James Gunn story that shows why Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista are SO unbelievably good at what they do.”

Daniel Baptista of The Movie Podcast:
“Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is A NEW CHRISTMAS CLASSIC. James Gunn delivers another heartfelt, out-of-this-world adventure that focuses on the family we choose and what we’ll do to make his Christmas magical. I need more Cosmo ASAP!”
shabhaz, of The Movie Podcast:
“CHRISTMAS IS HERE! The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a HAPPY MIRACLE. Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista are the perfect couple as we laugh, cry and sing about their adventure for the ultimate gift. James Gunn continues to tug at heartstrings. This one is on the list of good ones.”
Such Moving Pictures:
“The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is so much fun! I’m happy to have these weirdos back, front and center after their poor cameo in THOR LOVE AND THUNDER. Mantis is truly one of the best characters in the MCU.”

“The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is lovely. He is full of heart, action and laughs. The ending hits VERY hard. That Groot is a practical effect is great. The music was amazing too. 10/10″.
Note: James Gunn clarified that Groot is not practical effect, but CGI.
The special hits the Disney Plus catalog on November 25, 2022.
