SPOILER ALERT. To the finale of “Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3”several of the original members of the group decide to continue separate paths. For this reason, new superheroes join the space defenders and one of them was Phyla, the girl who created the High Evolutionary in the Marvel movie. However, the character has a long history in the comics.
On Thursday, May 4, the third and final film about Star-Lord and his gang was released. In the last scenes, Peter Quill decides to separate from the Guardians and return to planet Earth to meet his grandfather, Jason Quill.
Mantis also decides to go on a solo journey, while Nebula and Drax are left in charge of Knowhere to lead the civilization of “Star Children”, the super-powered species that created the High Evolutionary.
Therefore, under Rocket’s command, new members fill the spaces. One of them is Kraglin, who has finally learned how to use the floating arrow, a rehabilitated Adam Warlock, and Phyla. The white-haired girl is not Cia, Aurora, or Lady Gaga in her wig days, but a powerful comic book superhero.
PHYLA’S STORY IN “GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3″
In the MCU movie, Phyla is one of the High Evolutionary’s creations. As seen on the tape, the children of her species had certain special characteristics such as high resistance, superhuman strength, little need for food, among others.
In the final scene, it can be seen that the girl, played by the young actress Kai Zen, also had some kind of energy power that she used to fight.
THE STORY OF PHYLA IN THE COMICS
The character is called Phyla-Vell, a last name that has been retired in the MCU due to their origin story being changed.
In the Marvel comics, she is the sister of Genis-Vell and the daughter of Captain Marvel. Eventually, she Phyla joined the Guardians of the Galaxy just before they were disbanded.
