The dish is so important to Peruvians that on June 22, 2010, the country’s authorities decided to declare that Grilled Chicken Day be celebrated every third Sunday in July.
What is the history of grilled chicken?
The tasty dish appeared for the first time in 1950 in Santa Clara (Chaclacayo) thanks to Roger Schuler (Swiss immigrant), who after observing his cook decided to try new recipes to prepare the chicken to create a different recipe.
In this way, he discovered what he could achieve by mixing dressings and then together with Franz Ulrich (creator of the oven for cooking several chickens) they perfected the recipe to begin to delight palates. While they were testing, they also added the potatoes and the creams.
