The governments of the center of the country: Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Querétaro and Guanajuato, pledged to strengthen actions against insecurity and to combat extortion criminal groups in the ‘drop by drop’ modality.
The ‘drop by drop’ is an informal loan requested by a desperate person because they have money problems and want a quick and immediate solution. The bad thing is that they are illegal lenders that condition people to pay a daily fee with interest so high that they reach up to 50% per month.
The crime rate in the center of the country is as follows: The State of Mexico ranks first with 30,943 alleged monthly crimes registered in May 2023. Mexico City ranks second with 20,596. It is followed by Guanajuato (12,288); Puebla (6,846); Queretaro (5,630); Hidalgo (4,965); Morelos (3,775) and Tlaxcala (333). The figures are monthly. This according to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
However, throughout the country there is a feeling of insecurity due to fear of crime, which is confirmed by the Inegi in its most recent National Survey of Urban Public Safety (IN ITS)as it indicates that during March 2023, 62.1% of the population aged 18 and over consider that, in terms of crime, living in their city is unsafe.
Private security solutions for states
The Mexican population believes that crime will continue to be just as bad or that it will get worse. People feel unsafe in the ATM located on the public road and also in public transport. Likewise, she feels uneasy in the bank; and when you hear or see alcohol consumption in the streets; shootings, robberies or assaults, vandalism, sale or consumption of drugs, among other things.
But let’s talk about solutions. What states can do to protect people, homes and businesses, is to resort to experts in private protection. In Mexico there is a pioneer company called Industrial Safety Multisystems Group® (MGUS), which has more than 40 years of experience and more than 14,000 professional guards. GMSI operates more than 30 subsidiaries nationwide.
Alejandro Desfassiaux, CEO and founder of Industrial Safety Multisystems Group® (GMSI)He is the author of two books: “Your security, myths and reality of private security” and “How to stop insecurity in Mexico? 5 proposals for the tranquility of citizenship”. He is also the founding president of the National Private Security Council (CNSP).
as leader of MGUS, Alejandro Desfassiaux, has the purpose of solving security problems in any type of sector or industry. For example: staff Multisystems Group it is very well trained to protect business owners so that they do not become victims of new forms of extortion such as ‘drop by drop’, which offers money loans to businesses.
And what can the authorities do to improve their performance? We refer to the Navy, the state police, the Army, the National Guard and the municipal preventive police. In addition to private security companies. Everyone, both the government and the private sector, must design, develop and implement activities or programs to prevent violence and crime. Actions that the governments of the center of the country are already executing.
And how is the government’s effectiveness in addressing insecurity issues being rated? According to the National Survey of Urban Public Security (ENSU), Ecatepec de Morelos (15.9%) and Naucalpan de Juárez (13.6%), were among the Edomex populations that had a lower percentage, since those surveyed consider that these governments are not resolving effectively address the problems facing its urban core. Unlike Apodaca, Nuevo León and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, which are at the top of the list with 62.8% and 61%, respectively.
In short, we must find solutions to combat criminal groups because evil manifests itself in many ways. There are more and more cunning criminals using all kinds of tricks to get what they want. Therefore, the best advice from the wise is: “Be careful not to be fooled.” So entrepreneurs, business managers and governments must seek to protect their people.
