The Ha’Kanules group was born in 2013 formed by volunteers.
On December 17, 1985, the United Nations General Assembly invited governments to celebrate December 5 of each year as International Volunteer Day.
The Autonomous Group of Volunteers Participating in the Conservation of Sea Turtles and Sea Cocks won the award in 2021, according to information from the voluntary action award site.
The Government of Mexico awarded the National Award for Voluntary and Solidarity Action (PNAVS) 2022 in the group, individual and youth categories, to the Ha’Kanules group, to Luz Lizbeth Bermejo Molina and to Jesús Elías Ibarra Rodríguez.
Ha’Kanules “Guardians of the water” received the award in the group category, for their contribution to caring for the environment, especially bees, as well as for conservation, reforestation and cleaning campaigns, among others.
In the Individual category, the winner was Luz Lizbeth Bermejo Molina for her outstanding contribution in legislative matters, human rights and the elimination of discrimination; and in the youth, to Jesús Elías Ibarra Rodríguez, for his voluntary work in the protection of the environment and protected species.
Jorge Alcocer Varela, who is the president of the Organizing Committee of the National Award for Voluntary and Solidarity Action and the head of the Social Linkage and Participation Coordinating Unit, Mónica Alicia Mieres Hermosillo, affirmed that for the Government of Mexico it is important to recognize voluntary work Through this award, since the supportive and committed participation of society is encouraged to improve the quality of life of people.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Health, reported that, to recognize the work of volunteers, the General Assembly of the United Nations established December 5 as the International Day of Volunteers for Economic and Social Development.
The official thanked the members of the qualifying jury for their dedication and transparency in the evaluation of each of the applications received, as well as the members of the PNAVS Organizing Committee, especially the volunteers who dedicate their time to altruistic and supportive work. , which contributes to the construction of a better world.
The National Coordinator of the Mexican Red Cross Volunteering, Fernando Rivera Muñoz, pointed out that one of the strengths of volunteering is mobilizing those who want to help to give others the best of themselves. He urged to promote the spirit of selfless service and assistance to people and communities. “Let’s be kind and trust the power of kindness,” she said.
