as you remember andro4allOver the years, the Mountain View company has stood out for its aggressive and competitive pricing strategy, keeping the costs of its devices relatively stable. However, this trend could change with the arrival of the new generation of the Pixel in October of this year, according to a well-known information leaker.
The Pixel 7 was launched in October last year with a price of $599 in the United States and €649 in Europe. According to reports, the Pixel 8 could cost $50 more than the Pixel 7 in North America.

Price: $649/699— Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) July 10, 2023
This represents a significant $50 price increase for the device in the US market. If this trend spreads to other regions, such as Europe, it is possible that the most basic model will reach €699.
In addition to the price increase, the leaker also revealed alleged definitive features of the Pixel 8. The device is expected to feature a Google Tensor G3 processor and a 6.17-inch OLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. However, the most outstanding detail is the inclusion of an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint readerwhich may represent the reason for the price increase.
Google has previously used optical fingerprint readers on its devices, but they have proven to be slower and less accurate compared to competing sensors. With the addition of an ultrasonic sensor, Google seeks to solve these problems in the next generation of its smartphones.
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are expected be presented in the first weeks of October.
