Google has just updated its Podcasts app to version 2.0 adding CarPlay support. The update, which is now available for both iPhone and iPad, also fixes a few bugs and improves the app’s overall performance.
Renewing interest and renewing the app
Google announced that it would bring its own Podcast app to iOS in March of this year. Little by little it has been gaining features, among which stand out, for example, the improvement in the way of finding content or creating lists of favorite podcasts. Now with version 2.0, support for CarPlay arrives, as indicated in the release notes:
Google Podcasts now supports Apple CarPlay so you can listen more easily and safely while driving. We have also made several bug fixes to improve performance.
While Google Podcasts is not the preferred choice of iOS users when listening to Podcasts, the arrival of a new competitor will undoubtedly improve the ecosystem of existing applications.
Podcasts have become very popular in recent times and several major companies have invested in them. That Spotify is adding Podcasts to its subscription music service or that Angela Merkel has opened her own Podcast program are clearly indications that we have Podcasts for a while.
