How to activate the new function?
Google claims that users who enable this feature experience 35% less phishing exposure compared to those who do not have it enabled. To activate this protection:
- In Gmail: Access the security settings page and select the “Enhanced safe browsing” option.
- In Chrome: Enter “chrome://settings/security” in the search bar and activate the option “Enhanced Protection”.
The function also checks for unusual URLs in real time to reduce the chances of accessing phishing sites. On the other hand, it offers the option to upload suspicious files to Google servers for further verification. Furthermore, it allows users to evaluate the permissions of browser extensions to better understand their security.
