For more than a year, Google has been testing dark mode little by little in several of its most popular applications. Currently services such as Google Photos, Calendar, YouTube, Chrome O Files already have dark mode officially, while other services such as Assistant have already released it, but only in beta.
That was the case of the Google app for Android and iOS, which long ago allowed some users to test the dark mode, but in beta and with the “risks” that entails, however, the Mountain View company has already announced that their app now supports Dark Mode for everyone regardless of whether they use Android or iOS.
Starting today & fully rolling out this week, dark mode is now available for the Google App on Android 10 and iOS 12/13. By default, the Google App will reflect your device’s system settings in Android 10 & iOS 13. If that’s set to a dark theme, the app will be in dark mode…. pic.twitter.com/ZqSD33ZhNt

How to activate dark mode in the Google app?
Google mentions that all those users who have iOS 13 or Android 10 will be able to see that the app will automatically switch between light and dark depending on the default theme of the operating system, that is if they activate the dark mode for the entire system on Android 10 or iOS. 13, then the app will change automatically.
If this is not the case or you do not have Android 10, then you can activate the dark mode as follows:
- Make sure you have the latest version of the Google app installed from the Play Store.
- Open the Google app and go to the option that says “More” located at the bottom right of the screen.
- Now go to the settings and then click on the “General” option.
- There you will have to scroll down to the “Theme” menu, where you can change to dark manually.
As you know, the Google app also allows you to access the Google Assistant settings, so once you switch to this new mode, the Google assistant will also change the background color, something we have been waiting for months on Android and iOS.
