The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus LMH project has gone through different phases. It started with high expectations, but it soon became clear that the SCG 007 LMH was not going to stand up to the Toyota GR010 Hybrid under any circumstances. After a rather gray 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jim Glickenhaus’s lineup decided to ‘get off’ the WEC due to their lack of interest in the Middle East market. His absence from the double event in Bahrain caused a slap on the wrist from the FIA and ACOwhile Glickenhaus was dedicated to displaying his SCG 007 LMH on different stages.
Looking ahead to the 2022 season and at the request of the FIA and ACO, Glickenhaus has entered a full-time SCG 007 LMH in the WEC, while the second unit will be present at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Despite the fact that the team’s plans were to use a ‘career-client’ model with a third prototype and that it be managed by a private team, the reality is that there will be only two Glickenhaus LMH chassis under direct training management. The plan to rent or sell the prototype is delayed until 2023.
Jim Glickenhaus This is how he explained it: «As you may know, we have recently offered our SCG 007 LMH with entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022 as the third car. We received several expressions of interest from high-level teamsl, but the 48 hour deadline at the end and the difficulty of building another SCG 007 LMH in time for the official test and event in June has made this option impossible. That’s why we now offer the 007 LMH for 2023. The conditions of our offer require that the buyer commits to the entire season of the WEC to be in Le Mans».
Glickenhaus has also put a price on the project and has defined the services that the structure can offer. And although they may seem high figures, the truth is that the prices offered by the structure are not expensive at all for a full WEC season, with Le Mans included: «The SCG 007 LMH to compete in 2023 has a final price of 2.5 million eurosto which another 2 million euros must be added if you want the complete package of vehicle parts. In addition, we offer à la carte career support, according to the client’s wishes.».
In the meantime, Glickenhaus prepares to face the 2022 season in the hope of having a ‘BoP’ that allows the SCG 007 LMH to effectively stand up to the Toyota prototype. For the time being, the team will race at Sebring with the chassis numbered #708. At the opening round of the WEC, the drivers in charge of putting themselves at the controls will be Olivier Pla, Romain Dumas and Ryan Briscoe.
