Figures from a report published on the website of USAToday reveal that, each year, in the United States an average of 38 babies die from heat, when they stay inside cars. This problem has been generated by the carelessness of parents, who forget to have left them in the vehicles, a situation that seeks to change a fourth grade girl.
Sophie took advantage of her school’s “invention convention” to tackle this problem, creating a device that not only helps her family keep her little brother out of the car, but can help all parents in the North American giant.
According to what was reported on the portal of AleteiaSophie’s mother, Jenny Rapson, supported her daughter to find an invention that would help adults not to forget their little ones inside cars, so the girl invented a very interesting device, which she called ‘do not forget me’.
How does the ‘forget-me-not’ work?
sophie looked for a way to keep one of the parents connected to the babyso that the moment he got out of the car, that union would remind him to save the infant from the vehicle.
With the use of two hook-and-loop loops that wrap around car keys and baby’s seat strap and a long, bungee cordSophie invented the “sophie’s baby forget-me-nots”.
The inventor explains her device and how she created it in a two-minute video posted on her mom’s YouTube channel. It would cost only 12 dollars.
Basically, this gadget joins the seat belt that holds the baby in the back seat with the key ring where the driver has the car keys or with his arm. In this way, when leaving the vehicle, you will not forget that you have the baby in the back.
