An asteroid – almost a kilometer in diameter – approaches Earth and is listed by NASA within the Apollo group, which makes it “potentially dangerous” because it will cross into the orbit of our planet.
However, the probability of impact is greatly reduced because – according to NASA calculations – it will pass about 15 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon. This is more than five million kilometers away.
The asteroid has a diameter between 440 and 990 meters and was discovered in 1995.
The space rock named “163373” will approach Earth at its peak on February 15, 2020.
It takes this asteroid to circle its orbit – which intersects with Earth’s – more than 24 years. It will again approach Earth in the year 2075.
