Pregnancies after the age of 35 should be handled with greater care and with adequate medical supervision, but that does not mean that you should avoid them, moreover, a study that found that pregnancy after that age benefits your brain.
According to research carried out among 830 postmenopausal women, it was determined that the level of hormones produced during pregnancy directly benefits brain functions.
The study published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society found that women who were mothers after age 35 had much better memory.
The research also found that women who became pregnant for the first time at age 24 or later had a significantly better executive function, which includes attention control, working memory, reasoning, and problem-solving.
Previous research has shown that many women experience decreased mental and memory capacity in their postmenopausal years. Therefore, the dose of estrogen and progesterone that pregnancy produces is beneficial at a woman’s older age.
