He Chiquihuite Hill shelters at its highest point a lookout where you can see wonderful sunsets and the vastness of the urban sprawl of the metropolitan area. Here we will tell you how to get to that site.
This hill is the most famous peak of the Sierra de Guadalupe, the volcanic mountain range that divides the State and Mexico City. It delimits both regions between the Gustavo A. Madero mayor’s office and the municipality of Tlanepantla de Baz.
He Cerro del Chiquihuite has a height of 2,700 meters above sea level. Due to the height and location of this volcanic domewas used to place about twenty television and radio antennas.
Among the television channels, the Canal del Congreso, TV Azteca and the Instituto Politécnico Nacional stand out. While in broadcasting we find the antennas of Radio Centro, the Mexican Institute of Radio and MVS Radio.
How to get to the Cerro del Chiquihuite viewpoint?

This viewpoint is located in what today is a volcanic dome protected natural area. You can access this area on foot from the station Tlalpexco of the Cablebusso public transport becomes the best option to get to that point.
It is important to point out that the Cablebus Line 1 run from Green Indians to Cuautepec. To get to the Indios Verdes central you can do it by various means: Metrobús, Metro, Red de Transportes de Pasajeros (RTP) and trucks.
Once you arrive at the Cetram de Indios Verdes you must get on the Cablebús of Line 1 towards Cuautepec. Your descent will be at the Tlalpexco station, which is one before Cuautepec and is located in Cda. Sauces 4, Tlalpexco, Gustavo A. Madero, CDMX. The journey for a single trip only costs seven pesos.
This is very close to the natural protected area of the Chiquihuite Hill. Once you are there you must follow the path that leads to the viewpoint.
Of course, we suggest you wear comfortable clothes and shoes, some snacks and water, since the walk to the viewpoint will take about an hour. However, the reward for taking this tour is unique. From the top of the hill you will be able to appreciate one of the most beautiful views of the Valley of Mexico.
The entrance to the viewpoint is completely free and you can access at the following times:
- Monday to Friday: 05:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Saturdays: 06:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Sundays and holidays: 07:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
