Will Garou already have the same power as Saitama?
After seeing the first season of One-Punch Man, we can assume that Garou is a different character from the entire cast of the series (especially the villains of the Monster Association). And after nearly achieving his goals through unbelievable feats, Saitama came along to prove that he wouldn’t be a story milestone between the characters…by defeating him.
For this moment the damage that Garou could inflict on members of the Hero Association was significant. Of course he went through a transition process when he reached the limit of him as a human and evolved into the well-known “absolute evil”, a pretty scary label. And, to better understand, this villain was able to noticeably alter the old power scale of the One-Punch Man series after this fact. Although we still don’t know how far. Perhaps it would be worth doing a little analysis about the character.
Garou was always a hero hunter
During his youth, Garou was an outstanding student of Bang. He showed great martial arts skills, but dropped out of school to fulfill his dream: to position himself as one of the most powerful characters in the world and have a significant impact on the power ladder. Garou’s perspective is somewhat interesting, as he considers heroes to be a danger to society., because they seem to have a false solution to their problems (or a false hope that blinds them). So this fact motivated him to embody evil. And along the way he managed to beat some of the biggest heroes, like Tank Top, from the S-class.
Until here, Garou had been victorious in all his fights, but he met Saitama. It should be clarified that it was more of a unilateral attack than a proper fight. In this scenario, Garou was knocked unconscious after a punch from the bald hero. Although this same thing happened when Garou wanted to confront King, but Saitama stopped him resoundingly.
And while it might have spelled the end of Garou’s dreams, it didn’t stop him. On the contrary, it was this series of events that motivated him to pursue his quest and actually triggered his evolution (revealed in the Monster Association arc) that marked a further step forward for his career and , thus, obtain the final cosmic form bestowed by God.
What does Garou’s cosmic evolution mean?
Considering Garou’s past in One Piece, we could see a big difference between the Hero Hunter and his new Cosmic form. Although he could be considered inferior, his feats were just as incredible. Before his evolution, Garou could easily deal with Monster Association members (such as Centisennin, the Dragon-level monster).
This great streak was very short-lived for Garou, as he would soon meet Saitama. The impressive thing about one of his iconic fights was that Garou was able to reestablish his own strength parameters through a determination that modified his DNA.. But unfortunately, not even in this way could Garou beat Saitama. So these failed attempts prompted God to intervene to offer Garou a tempting offer.
At this moment, it is where things change for the heroes and villains of One Punch Man, precisely because the power system could no longer be measured by the same limits, between which there was a certain balance on the part of the two sides. But Saitama is the only one who can change the balance and decides not to do so by concentrating on his daily activities, perhaps only participating in some encounters with unfortunate villains.
And, quite unlike the bald hero, Garou threatened to break in with the order of the power system. After adopting an appearance consistent with the universe, this villain has managed to reach unsuspected limits with his new power. Which has shown God that perhaps these new abilities will allow him to defeat his main enemy: Saitama.
Thanks to his monster evolution into “Absolute Evil”, Garou embodies evil itself and has become a benchmark for One Punch Man.. In chapter 165, Garou has finally fulfilled his dream of evolving and transcending the category of hero and villain in the series. Although everything seems to indicate that he has equaled Saitama’s strength, we are still not sure what the next step will be for Garou or what this will all lead to. Maybe in the next chapter we’ll see what Garou has in store for Saitama.
