DT has been forced to rotate his eleven on multiple occasions, either due to the string of games, injuries, technical decisions and forced absences. From the first team that ‘Flaco’ stopped (in March against Cienciano) to the one he presented in Arequipa, there have been three substantial changes: he started with Emanuel Herrera and Luis Urruti up front, and with Nelson Cabanillas on the left, now he has Alex Valera and Edison Flores in attack, and with José Bolívar on one side; the rest have lasted over time (except for the current injury to Matías Di Benedetto).
Despite this, Fossati had only been able to repeat the same team once (in April against Municipal and Goias), until he was able to do so against Melgar for the second time. Without Di Benedetto due to injury, Marco Saravia returned to take his position and the others were ratified, especially Edison Flores and José Bolivar. ‘Orejas’, the last reinforcement, was going little by little, entering the second times to later have a position in ’11’; while the ex-lateral rosé has won the position from Cabanillas.
they make the difference
Although no one disputes his ownership, the last few weeks have not been the best for Alex Valera. He hadn’t scored for almost a month (four games) and anxiety was beginning to take over him. In front of Mannucci, he had up to three shots on goal and two deflected, and he was left without celebrating. However, as a reward for his effort and not giving up a single ball, he was reunited with the goal against Melgar. He pressured the departure of Carlos Cáceda and was the protagonist of the only cream goal in UNSA.
“I was anxious, but now I am more relaxed and very confident. I fought until the last and with that I managed to score the goal, it was a mistake that he [Cáceda] had, but I took advantage of it a lot and scored the goal. There were three gold points that will help us a lot”, declared Valera upon leaving the airport. The Merengue striker reached 50 goals (38 with the creams, nine with Llacuabamba and three with the ‘sele) and shortly after Juan Reynoso’s call, it suits him to score again.
His numbers with the ‘U’ this year | Games Played | Minutes Played | goals | assists |
---|---|---|---|---|
alex valera | 25 | 1837′ | 13 | 2 |
Edison Flores | 7 | 290′ | 2 | 1 |
Another who has also taken center stage, at the gates of a new call for the start of the Qualifiers, is Edison Flores. ‘Orejas’ began from less to more; Fossati took him little by little until he saw him physically fit to enter the starting team. The cream midfielder displaced ‘Tito’ Urruti in ’11 ′ and with the inclusion of him in the eleventh, the ‘U’ was strengthened and leads the Clausura. “I feel good, trying to always improve, getting ready for what the team and the coach want”, pointed out the ’19’, who started for the second game in a row.
For his part, given the injury to Di Benedetto -starting behind-, Marco Saravia has not been out of tune and with him behind, the creams have not conceded goals on two dates, neither against Mannucci nor against Melgar. Of course, once the Argentine recovers, everything indicates that the ’11’ will be the same as Fossati has been presenting, plus the return of ‘5’.
