More and more people are curious about the world around them and about the technology behind many elements in our lives. Microsoft is very focused on education through many initiatives and today we will discuss one of them: free courses.
The Redmond giant has great documentation for its different products, as well as an excellent training platform like Microsoft Learn. But what may be unknown to many people on the net is the collection of courses for beginners that they offer for free.
What courses can you find?
We go on to discover all the courses on different topics and technologies that you can learn to date:
Web development
The first steps to develop for the web, are the languages HTML, CSS and Javascript. And this course gives you the basics of web development, it teaches you these three languages that can accompany you all your way as developer, as well as good practices to create quality solutions that are easy to maintain.
Internet of Things (IoT)
The Internet of Things is something that attracts the attention of many people. Can create devices that interact with the elements around us, to automate tasks and improve the experience of our environment … it is something fantastic!
What things can be done with IoT? You can create things like:
- Sensors to measure air quality
- Smart door locks
- Sensors for maintenance and health of gardens and agriculture
And, in general, to facilitate our day to day with technology. What are you waiting for to get started?
Machine Learning (ML)
It is a term that you have heard and / or read many times today … but what is it?
The machine learning is one of the branches of artificial intelligence that teaches machines, from large amounts of information, to develop the ability to solve problems, answer questions and draw conclusions.
Data science
Data science o data science is the discipline that extract knowledge through large amounts of unstructured data.
All the information that is generated day by day in social networks, from the interactions between companies and with clients, work processes … all these movements are data without structure, “noise”, which once analyzed provides us with valuable information.
It is a complex matter and that goes hand in hand with the machine learning, so I recommend going through the previous course first before going into data science.
And more free courses to come!
If we take a look at the different Microsoft repositories, we can find the following:
- Full-stack for beginners
- Python for beginners
- Mixed-Reality for beginners
They are still empty of content, in the same way that those that are already available in their beginnings would be. So we can hope that sooner or later they will finish the syllabus of these courses and start others that are not even on this list.
Teaching oriented
Are you a teacher and would you like to use these contents? You can do it, without any problem! You can make commercial use, modification, private use and distribution of these materials, as long as and when you refer to where the original material comes from.
If you are curious about what you can and cannot do with this content, you have more information at TLDR Legal.
Are you going to take any of these free courses? Will you use the content to give workshops or courses? Leave your impressions and answers in the comments, I will be attentive to your contributions.
Until the next article, Microsofters!
