- Mike Lindell of MyPillow has decided to remove his ads from Fox News
- MyPillow has been one of the 10 most important advertisers for the Fox News network
- This decision comes after a disagreement with Fox News over one of its commercials, which the network declined to air.
MyPillow, one of Fox News’ largest advertisers, said it will withdraw its ads from the network because the channel is unwilling to air commercials promoting conspiracy theories about its founder.
During this 2021, MyPillow has been one of the 10 most important advertisers for the Fox News network, both in terms of television ad impressions and estimated spending. In fact, it ranks sixth out of 15 firms. This, according to information from iSpot.tv, a television ad analysis company.
This decision made by Mike Lindell, CEO of MyPillow, comes after a disagreement with Fox News about one of its commercials, which the network refused to publish and which was about an online event that will take place in August, during which will further promote conspiracy theories suggesting that the 2020 presidential election in the United States was stolen.
For its part, Fox News issued a statement where, it said, regrets the decision made by Mike Lindell, especially after the success obtained for his brand in all the time they were collaborating:
“It is unfortunate that Mr. Lindell has decided to stop his commercial time on FOX News given the level of success he has experienced in building his brand through advertising on the number one cable news network.”
While Fox News has strong advertiser backing, MyPillow’s exit is a serious blow to its revenue.
As reported by iSpot.tv, Mike Lindell’s company is, from an estimated spend point of view, the second most important advertiser for Fox News, while, in terms of ad impressions, it ranks sixth out of a list of 15 top advertisers. We share the complete list here:
1. Fox News ($ 8.5 million)
2. Balance of Nature ($ 4.6 million)
3. Liberty Mutual ($ 3.9 million)
4. Fox Nation ($ 3.8 million)
5. NewDay USA ($ 3.7 million)
6. MyPillow ($ 2.3 million)
7. Relief Factor ($ 2.2 million)
8. USAA ($ 2.0 million)
9. Indeed ($ 1.8 million)
10. Nutrisystem ($ 1.6 million)
11. Fox ($ 1.3 million)
12. Progressive ($ 1.3 million)
13. Safelite Auto Glass ($ 1.3 million)
14. Applebee’s ($ 1.0 million)
15. ADT ($ 1.0 million)
The ad in question that was rejected by Fox News promoted the information that the last presidential elections in the United States were stolen from the now ex-president, Donald Trump.
As a result of this, Lindell told CBS that he decided to withdraw all his ads. “If there were any stragglers today, it is mere chance,” he said.
As a curious fact, in 2019, Lindell, in an interview with The Wrap, announced that he had no intention of withdrawing from Fox News, stating that his idea was not to “boycott anyone.”
Data revealed by iSpot.tv indicates that the advertising time purchased by MyPillow to date on Fox News has an estimated value of 40 million dollars.
From January 1 to July 29, MyPillow was the most widely broadcast primetime advertiser on Fox News, amassing an estimated 1.4 million ad impressions during that time slot.
This is a severe blow for both, both for Fox News and MyPillow, especially since it speaks of a conflict of interest more political than commercial.
Fox News is a chain considered right-wing and Mike Lindell is too, so much so that he has been one of the characters that is giving the most support to the former president, Donald Trump.
