“Carmen Armendáriz was a patron saint of that generation and of other generations of filmmaking in Mexico. […] He allowed us to exercise at the marked time. First as makeup artists, as monster designers, as a monster actor, as a screenwriter, as a director. I did twenty-odd chapters and Alfonso [Cuarón] I think he did seven. ‘El chivo’ Lubezki started taking pictures in the marked time. Lubezki entered photography because he was going to be a director and his shorts were amazing”.
