For decades, the urine test is the traditional technique to be able to determine if a woman can be pregnant or not, however, the world and its technologies are always one foot ahead of the update and apparently, the time has come for a satisfactory change in pregnancy tests.
A new investigation led by Salignostics, a young Israeli laboratory specialized in saliva tests, has detailed a new modality that allows an impressive result of up to 98 percent reliability to be obtained with a drop of saliva in just 15 minutes of waiting. .
SaliStick
The device called “SaliStick” is capable of detecting Beta HcG (pregnancy hormone) through saliva. The importance of the finding is that the first test could be taken from the very first day of the delay in the menstrual cycle.
Guy Krief, Co-Founder and President of Salignostics, noted that: “Saliva allows rapid diagnosis. It is the only simple and non-invasive way to detect hormones, viruses and diseases”. He also explained with complete confidence that from now on it will not be necessary to go through the usual urine and blood tests and said test can be carried out anywhere and at any time that is required.
It is simple; you have to place the foam stick in your mouth for a few seconds, before putting it back on its base. After fifteen minutes, the result will be shown with one or two colored bands depending on whether there is a pregnancy or not.
“It is simpler and more hygienic. It is very encouraging that a technology that was honed and developed to help us cope with one of the worst pandemics can continue to be developed to contribute to the support and well-being of women and families around the world,” added Dr. Krief. The Times of Israel Dr. Guy Krief.
Although its price is unknown so far, the managers of Salignostics confirmed that, from the first quarter of 2023, “SaliStick” will be available throughout the European market.
