Flat Earth is a theory that defends that the Earth is flat instead of spherical, as has been scientifically proven. Despite the evidence, there are people who believe in this theory, such as youtuber Bob Knodel, who performed an experiment with a laser gyroscope to prove that the Earth is flat.
However, as it counts Brand in a report, the experiment went wrong and proved the opposite.
In the Netflix documentary ‘Behind the Curve’, Knodel participated along with other flat earthers who also tried to prove their theory, but their experiments ended up showing that the Earth is round.
“What we found is, when we turned on that gyroscope, we discovered we were picking up a drift. A drift of 15 degrees per hour. Now, obviously we were surprised by that: ‘Wow, that’s a problem.’ Obviously, we were not willing to accept that, so we started looking for ways to disprove that it was actually recording the movement of the Earth”, explained Knodel after the experiment.
An $18,000 studio
This documentary, based on a study, helped make this theory more popular, although most people reject it. Knodel invested almost 20 thousand dollars in it.
Celebrities like Shaquille O’Neal have expressed their belief in Flat Earth, arguing that certain phenomena are incoherent if the Earth is spherical. However, these arguments have no scientific basis and have been refuted by experts in the field.
In the podcast ‘The Kyle and Jackie O Show’, Shaq gave several arguments to defend this theory. From a 20-hour flight “in which he never went in a straight line or turned upside down” to commenting that the lake at his house “would never have changed his position.”
“I drive from coast to coast and the Earth is fucking flat to me. I do not go up or down in a 360 degree angle”, added the former NBA star.
