Urinating on a stick is the most conventional way for tests or pregnancy tests. A blood test confirms pregnancy statusbut that is the beginning of the arrival of a new member to the family.
What’s complex about that? We don’t know, but a group of scientists wanted to make it easier and change fluids in the body to confirm or rule out that a woman is pregnant.
For years they had been carrying out this type of development and now it seems that they found the perfect formula and the approval of the medical authorities of two European countries. You can confirm if you are pregnant with saliva.
The two countries that started selling these tests are the United Kingdom and Ireland, according to a review gizmodo. They work very similar to the oral covid-19 test.
The process is simple. It has a kind of collector where you put a spit, you put it in a kind of unit of analysis and a screen gives you the results in about 10 minutes. The product is called SaliStickwhich is like saying OriStick.
The scientists behind this development explain that it is possible to detect pregnancy through saliva, because the levels of a hormone called β-hCG are tested, which is activated during the three or four weeks of the beginning of the gestation process.
The folks at SaliStick say it’s 95% accurate. The creators, to sell it, say that the previous method – that of peeing on a stick – is extremely cumbersome. And they are excited to have managed to learn this news through saliva.
“This exciting innovation offers women the opportunity to perform a pregnancy test in a cleaner, more direct and easier way, and is a long-awaited development in the pregnancy test market,” said Chris Yates, Director executive at Abingdon Health, the company that makes the SaliStick.
