Almost at the end of last year we had a video teaser for the reboot of The Prince of rap, same that will be arriving this 2022 to the streaming service, Peacock under the name ‘Bel-Air’. Well now we have its first official trailer, which gives us a much better look at this future project, and you can see it for yourself here.
This new series will feature Jabari banks What Will, thus replacing Will Smith who played him in the original series from the 90s. However, Smith He will continue to be involved in this project as an executive producer, so his influence will certainly be felt on the show.
Unlike the original series, this reboot will have a greater focus on drama, or at least it ensures it. Alfonso Ribeiro, actor who played Carlton Banks in the original series:
“It is something completely different. It is drama, it is not comedy. I have nothing to do with it, so I really don’t know anything else. In fact, I’m interested in even more than a reboot. Let’s take a concept and turn it into a different series. It’s like rolling the dice. Go ahead, try and see what happens”.
The reboot of The Prince of rap will come to Peacock the next February 13th.
Editor’s Note: I’m still not 100% convinced by this reboot. Obviously I’m going to see it once it premieres, but I don’t think it will have the same impact that the original series had at the time. At least Will Smith is behind the project, but we will see if in the end it ends up fulfilling or not.
