Saying goodbye to the month of August is usually accompanied by that slap of unique and inimitable reality that is the beginning of a new year. But you already know that the penalties, with cinema, are less, and this Friday, September 3 arrives accompanied by a good handful of billboard premieres which we’ll go over after taking a look at one ticket office still comatose.
Despite having had six novelties, and seeing the total amount increased by 7% compared to the previous weekend, the box office national has not managed to overcome a barrier of 3 million euros that continues to resist. Something logical if we take into account that the most viewed feature film only managed to harvest 0.49 million.
This was none other than ‘The Paw Patrol: The Movie’, an animated title followed by ‘Free Guy’ with € 0.33 million in its second week on the bill, and the premiere of ‘Candyman’ with some discreet 0.31 million They disappoint when they know the fantastic pull that horror productions tend to have when it comes to attracting mass audiences.

How Marvel has been introducing the great villain of ‘Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings’ and his henchmen since ‘Iron Man’
The Top 5 with the most viewed between August 27 and 29 was closed ‘García y García’ with 0.24 million and ‘The Suicide Squad’ by James Gunn, who put up with the guy with other 0.2 million euros in its fourth week on the bill.
The premieres of September 3, 2021
‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ (‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, 2021)
{“videoId”: “x827xdd”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “‘Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings’: final trailer of the Marvel movie”}
We start the review of the news with the hand of the new piece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: ‘Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings’. Destin Cretton – ‘The Lives of Grace’, ‘A Matter of Justice’ – directs Sim Liu in a production that reveals the best side of the recent MCU; a story of origins that flies free thanks to its scarce connection with the shared universe marvelita and that offers a hilarious cocktail of action, adventure, martial arts a la Hong Kong and Wu Xia with Chinese mythology in spades under a 100% Shakespearean premium. The leaden house brand formula and CGI outbursts are still there, but the surprise has been supine.
Criticism in Espinof: ‘Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings’ is the best of Marvel since ‘Endgame’: a polished balance of action, adventure and oriental fantasy
‘Maligno’ (‘Malignant’, 2021)
{“videoId”: “x82tp2m”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “Maligno: James Wan film trailer”}
I wish I could tell you things about ‘Maligno’, but the secrecy with which the new James Wan is taking is such that we are going to arrive almost virgins at its premiere. But just by seeing the trailer it is clear that we have another virguería ahead of us at the level of production and staging, which on this occasion hybridizes the giallo and that supernatural terror that has so well championed in franchises such as’ Inisidious’ or ‘Warren File ‘. Attention, because it is rumored that it has some twists of those that leave you bent in the armchair.
‘After: Lost Souls’ (‘After We Fell’, 2021)
{“videoId”: “x83w5uo”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “After. Lost souls – Subtitled Trailer -“}
The After saga, based on the novels by Anna Todd, returns to the fray under the direction of Castille Landon in ‘Lost Souls’; another serving of teenage romantic drama championed by Josephine Langford that is sure to delight fans – who are not few.
‘Chicks’ (2021)
{“videoId”: “x83w5un”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “Girls – Official Trailer -“}
After passing through the Malaga Festival, where he captivated the respectable to take the Audience Award in his pocket, the debut of Carol Rodríguez Colás arrives in our cinemas. Vicky Luengo, Carolina Yuste, Elisabet Casanovas and Ángela Cervantes —among others— star in this emotional drama about friendship made in Spain.
‘The tube’ (‘Méandre’, 2020)
{“videoId”: “x83w5ul”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “El Tubo – Official Spanish Trailer -“}
Watch out for fantasy lovers, because after going through the last edition of the Sitges Festival, we already have ‘El Tubo’ in our cinemas. Written and directed by Mathieu Turi, this bottled film – never better said – puts ‘Saw’ and ‘Cube’ in a mincer to offer us an hour and a half of claustrophobia, tight tension and the odd surprise. Very intelligent in conception and remarkable in execution.
‘Los Olchis’ (‘The Ogglies’, 2021)
{“videoId”: “x83w5uk”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “Los Olchis – Official Spanish Trailer -“}
If the little ones have already seen ‘The Paw Patrol’, this week the billboard offers you this German film, directed by Toby Genkel and Jens Møller, to spend some time with them at the cinema. Although it does not dazzle, it can more than fulfill your aspirations with your potential audience.
‘Nora’ (2020)
{“videoId”: “x83w5ui”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “Nora – Official Trailer -“}
Lara Izagirre writes and directs this road-movie in the key of dramedia that follows a 30-year-old woman traveling along the coast of the Basque Country transporting the ashes of her recently deceased grandfather to take them along with those of her grandmother —and, incidentally, to find herself, as is often the case. All one feel good movie to the Spanish.
‘The metamorphosis of the birds’ (‘A Metamorfose dos Pássaros’, 2020)
{“videoId”: “x83w5uh”, “autoplay”: false, “title”: “The metamorphosis of the birds – Official VOSE Trailer -“}
Catarina Vasconcelos’s debut closes the week’s premieres with this experimental documentary with a strong lyrical charge that will delight audiences eager for atypical and disruptive experiences.
