Filipe Albuquerque is one of the regular faces in the WEC paddock. And he will continue to be next year, since Albuquerque has extended its relationship with the United Autosports team ahead of the 2023 season. In this way, the Portuguese will continue to compete in the LMP2 class with one of the ORECA prototypes of the Anglo-American team, in what will be his fourth consecutive campaign with the team in the silver category of the World Endurance Championship. Total, Filipe will start his seventh season with the team after previously competing in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS).
Several have been the teams that have knocked on the door of Filipe Albuquerque, since the Portuguese is one of the fastest drivers in the LMP2 category. A safe value that United Autosports has not wanted to let escape, as it has recognized Richard Dean: «Albuquerque has shown that he is one of the best prototype drivers in the world. His track record with our team is impressive, as is his contribution in all areas. We continue to push for improvement and I am sure that this commitment to work together in 2023 will bring more success for Filipe and United Autosports».

Zack Brown, co-owner of United Autosports, has stressed the importance of keeping the figure of Filipe Albuquerque in the formation: «Without a doubt, Filipe had other options on the table and was on the radar of other teams. Fortunately, Albuquerque has seen the ambition we have within the team and he has committed to us. For our part, Filipe is a very valuable asset, especially with a new era of prototype racing just around the corner. We are all working very hard.”
With this renewal, Filipe Albuquerque begins to define his most immediate future. In this sense, the Portuguese seems to be ready to have a double program in WEC and IMSA in 2023, similar to the one he maintains this season. If this season he competes for United Autosports in the LMP2 class of the World Championship and for Wayne Taylor Racing in the IMSA premier class with an Acura ARX-05 in the DPi category, it is expected that in 2023 he will be able to do the same, although in this case at the controls of one of the new Acura LMDh prototypes in the American series.
“I am very happy to re-sign with United Autosports to complete another WEC campaign with them. The goal is to chase the title like we already achieved in the 2019-20 season. I never imagined I would be driving for the same team for so long. but it is a pleasure to work with Richard Dean and Zak Brown, with all the engineers and with all the staff of the team” assured a Filipe Albuquerque who is the second driver confirmed by the team after the renewal of Josh Pierson.
