Less than 24 hours ago, Electronic Arts revealed the FIFA 22 first trailer, which promises to be the best soccer game of next season. This new FIFA has once again starred Kylian Mbappé, protagonist of the covers of the three editions. However, in FIFA 22 we will experience a new graphic level thanks to its innovative new generation HyperMotion technology. But in this new installment, all that glitters is not gold, since we have just learned that FIFA 22 can only be upgraded for free from Xbox One to Xbox Series X | S with the Ultimate Edition, the most expensive edition of the game that costs 99.99 euros.
As we are seeing in recent months, acquiring new video games is becoming more and more complicated, as a result of their high prices in general. But now, in addition to this difficulty, Electronic Arts has made changes to its Dual Entitlement program, limiting free next-generation updates to FIFA 22 and Madden NFL 22 to players.
FIFA 22 can only be upgraded for free from Xbox One to Xbox Series X | S with the Ultimate Edition
Dual Entitlement is an EA initiative that allows players who purchase Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of their games to access the respective next-gen updates at no additional cost. But this has changed with FIFA 22 and the new Madden NFL 22. Last year, the Dual Entitlement was included with all physical and digital copies of the standard and final editions. But this time, Anyone who buys the standard edition, either in physical or digital format on the previous generation consoles, will have to purchase the upgraded version for Xbox Series X | S or PS5 at full price, as indicated by the EA official website.
If you buy FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition and start playing on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you will be able to update your copy once you have the corresponding next generation console (PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X | S) by downloading it at your new console. Dual Entitlement is only available with the purchase of FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition. The standard edition of FIFA 22 does not include it.
This unnecessary and pointless practice will undoubtedly bring a lot of controversy. Finally, we remind you that FIFA 22 will go on sale on October 1, 2021 for Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PS5, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia.
