It is common for car brands to call some of their models for review, but in the vast majority of cases these are defects in the airbags, in the cooling system or in the emission of gases into the environment. Never on the brakes.
Or hardly ever. Because this Friday, April 22, the Italian super sports car brand Ferrari announced a call for review of units sold in China because they have “a possible failure in their brake systems”publish Reuters.
The luxury carmaker seeks to withdraw from the Asian giant’s market a total of 2,222 cars, as confirmed by the market regulator of that country in a statement.
Among the Ferrari cars with brake problems The 458 Italia, 458 Speciale and 458 Spider models are included, vehicles that can reach a maximum speed of 325 kilometers per hour, which makes a review more than necessary if the defect is in the arrest system.
The vehicles were imported from Italy to China between March 2010 and April 2019.
The news does not come at a good time.
Ferrari announced a change in marketing strategy for the coming years.
It’s a new direction for the world’s most famous luxury sports car brand that could determine the path the rest of the segment takes.
Benedetto Vigna, the new executive director of Ferrari, said last January that there are internal changes in the organization and new leadership strategies with the aim of focusing the Italian brand towards a 100% technological profile, 100% based on data and with the look at electrification.
One of the changes that Ferrari launches in 2022 is that the product development and research, digital and data, and technology and infrastructure departments now report directly to the CEO.
