Ferrari and AF Corse have announced their driver line-up for the LMGTE-Pro class of the WEC ahead of the 2022 season. The great novelty is the incorporation of Antonio Fuoco as Miguel Molina’s new partner in the #52 Ferrari to replace Daniel Serra, since at #51 the duo formed by Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado remains after four seasons together. With this move, Fuoco lands in the official Ferrari project after just four seasons competing in GT vehicles.
Ferrari’s project in the LMGTE-Pro class of the WEC maintains many of the ingredients that led to its success in 2021. In fact, Pier Guidi and Calado will defend the title obtained in Bahrain a couple of months ago with the Ferrari #51, while Miguel Molina repeats in #52 with a new partner, circumstance that already lived last year. If in 2021 it was the Brazilian Daniel Serra who was in charge of replacing Davide Rigon, for the new year it is the Italian Antonio Fuoco who will compete alongside the Catalan after a meteoric rise in the discipline.

Fuoco had his first contact with GTs in his homeland with two Italian GT Championship titles. Successes that led him to compete in the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans Series season in a GT. Since then, Ferrari has been focusing Fuoco’s career towards disciplinefirst with a brief contact with the Endurance Cup of the GTWC Europe in 2020 as a preview of the program that it had in 2021, a season in which Antonio Fuoco was one of the Iron Lynx drivers in the GTWC Europe Endurance Cup.
What’s more, Fuoco debuted in the WEC LMGTE-Am class alongside Cetilar Racing, structure with which it also disputed the 24 Hours of Daytona and competed in Le Mans. His good performances have led Ferrari to give him an opportunity in their official team in LMGTE-Pro: «I am very happy with this opportunity because it comes to the end of a growth path in the world of GT racing that I started in 2019. I am happy to be here and I hope to contribute to the successes of the team and Ferrari in 2022».
Miguel Molina will be Fuoco’s partner and mentor in his third full campaign within the official Ferrari team: «I am delighted to return to the WEC, a championship that I will tackle with a new teammate. Antonio did an excellent job last year in the LMGTE-Am classmaking it clear that he is a very competitive driver. We are ready to fight for victory. I would like to thank Daniel Serra for what he did last season. He was an exemplary teammate, consistently very fast».
