Vitality and energy are synonymous with well-being. So much so, that human beings need them to carry out daily activities and bring out all the potential they have. Hence, fatigue becomes a real problem, where physical and mental health can be compromised. Above all, because when chronic fatigue becomes habitual, it should be considered as an alarm signal, to which we must pay attention.
In fact, burnout can have multiple roots, including the accelerated pace of large cities. However, there are other causes such as being overweight, sedentary and poor diet; that, although it is possible to control; unfortunately they are not prioritized. What makes it drift elements that help improve living conditions.1
Fatigue slows the individual’s activity
In fact, fatigue can lead to decreased motivation and interest in learning, working, and socializing. Making, in many cases, the individual look for external stimuli such as alcohol and drugs to solve it. Without hardly realizing it, instead of improving the situation, it is aggravating the symptoms, gradually deteriorating the state of mind and health.
For this reason, fatigue is considered a normal response to physical exertion or a stressful situation. But, when it is recurrent, it passes the limits, becoming pathological. Hence, physical alterations such as anemia, thyroid problems and adrenal gland deficiencies become a triggering factor.
Likewise, people with diabetic, cardiac, autoimmune or oncological clinical pictures will also be included in this list. Likewise, the population group that has joint problems, malnutrition and recurrent parasitic infections become potential candidates for suffering from this condition.1
Similarly, we found that hormonal changes, the use of certain medications, and depression all play an important role in causing fatigue. In addition, we can see that obstructive sleep apnea and unhealthy habits that include large doses of caffeine, alcohol and tobacco, are accelerators of any disease. 2
Making small changes can help
It is clear that physical and mental fatigue in an advanced state can have its origin in some disease. But it also appears due to alterations of the nervous system or due to a deficiency of some trace element. Therefore, looking for the exact cause with the help of the health professional and diagnostic tests, should be the first step to solve this situation.
However, fighting vitality and energy thieves by maintaining an appropriate weight, regular physical activity, and a balanced diet is an idea that should resonate. Also, make small changes; where proper hydration is included, decrease the consumption of coffee, increase antioxidants and increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables in the daily diet; they will surely make a big difference.2
At the same time, we realize that managing stress levels with strategies that include planning activities, including spaces for rest and applying alternative relaxation techniques in daily life, favor mental and physical balance. Which means that the risk factors for developing a state of chronic fatigue are emphatically minimized.
