It arrived on the streets of Lima! In its purpose to impact the world of fashion through art and culture, adidas Originals presents an impressive dummy of its iconic Rivalry sneaker, created by Peruvian visual artist Xomatok.
The adidas Originals sneaker, with roots in the basketball archives, is uniquely brought to life thanks to the creative vision of this artist. For this dummy, Xomatok was faithful to his proposal and used the colors of the visible spectrum for this intervention. “I am very happy to collaborate with adidas as part of this campaign. With this intervention, I seek for my proposal to accompany the emblematic silhouette of the Rivalry, generating an encounter between darkness and light like every step we experience in life.”noted the artist.
The collaboration between adidas and Xomatok is a testament to the union between sport, fashion and art. This work is a tangible representation of the creativity and artistic expression that adidas seeks to inspire through its Rivalry sneaker campaign.
We invite all art and fashion lovers to visit this ephemeral exhibition and experience the fusion of two creative worlds from Wednesday, November 8 to Sunday, November 12 on the corner of Pardo and Comandante Espinar, on Alameda Cristina Galvez – Miraflores. Then, you can find it at Comandante Espinar’s adidas Originals store starting November 13.
About Xomatok
Jesús Camarena Lovera, known in the artistic world as Xomatok, is a Peruvian visual artist and art director who since 2007 has been dabbling in urban art, which has allowed him to intervene in various public and private spaces.
One of his most recognized works occurred in 2021 with ‘Pinta Lima Bicentenario de la Municipalidad de Lima’. It was a project that carpeted the public stairs that wind through the Alisos de Amauta neighborhoods in Lima with different geometric motifs reminiscent of the Andean blankets woven by artisans. This year she presented a solo exhibition in Mexico called “Everything that Is.” Likewise, she represented us at the I Amazon Biennial in Brazil.
