- First the vaccine and now Facebook announces that it will require its employees to wear face masks during office hours
- Faced with the escalation of infections derived from the Delta variant, Mark Zuckerberg’s company has issued new security measures
- The United States today adds more than 35 million positive cases since the arrival of Covid-19
In times like the ones we live in, where Covid-19 is still lurking in various parts of the world, Facebook announced that, in addition to the vaccine, it will require its employees to wear face masks when they return to their office work.
The United States adds, to date, a total of 35 million 039 thousand 644 cases since Covid-19 arrived on the planet and has vaccinated 346 million 456 thousand 669 people with, at least, its first dose. Almost 50 percent of that last figure has their complete vaccination system.
Despite being one of the countries that have shown the most progress during vaccination, the United States continues to fight the effects of the pandemic on many fronts, designing strategies so that the population goes out to get vaccinated.
In addition, in that country, the issue of disinformation has wreaked havoc, so much so that Joe Biden himself, its president, has demanded that Facebook work to eliminate the great misinformation that leaks into the social network regarding Covid-19, the pandemic and, of course, vaccines against the disease.
In this way, as part of the strategies implemented to counteract the deadly effects of Covid-19, some companies that are about to receive their employees back to their offices have demanded some security measures.
First, Facebook reported that its employees must be vaccinated against Covid before they return to work. This was expressed by Lori Goler, vice president of Human Resources of the company, in a statement published by The Verge publication.
The measure announced by Facebook joins those of Google and Netflix that go along the same line, but now Mark Zuckerberg’s company has issued another safety measure for its workers.
Facebook workers, as announced by the company itself, must wear face masks during their working hours, this added to the requirement to be vaccinated against Covid-19 before they return to work.
“Given the increasing number of COVID cases, the latest data on COVID variants, and an increasing number of local requirements, we are reinstating our mask requirement at all Facebook offices in the US, regardless of the state of Vaccination of an employee, ”said a Facebook spokesperson, as published by The Verge.
This new recommendation arises from health authorities announcing the reestablishment of the use of masks indoors in several counties in the bay.
Likewise, the measure is produced due to the increase in infections in the United States derived from the Delta variant, which, in terms of contagion, is more dangerous than the previous ones, and which has several countries around the world in check.
Undoubtedly, the end of the pandemic still seems a long way off as the Delta variant continues to rise. In addition to this, the vaccination process in the world, although it has shown great progress, is still slow.
Looking at what is expected in the immediate future, and when there is still great uncertainty regarding Covid-19, this could be the trend, at least for the remainder of the year for companies that will be returning to their work of office coming soon.
Likewise, it lends itself so that the same security measures are carried out in schools in order to further reduce infections derived from the coronavirus and, of course, to provide protection to the community.
We are still in a complicated context regarding Covid and it is not known what could happen, even during the next few months, since the power of the Delta variant is still strong and vaccination, as we already mentioned, is still slow.
