Facebook has updated its Transfer Your Information (TYI) tool, created to facilitate the transfer of data outside the social network. And now it supports two new services: Google Calendar and Photobucket.
The TYI tool was created to obtain a copy of your data outside of Facebook: it can be your photos and videos or the notes and publications stored in the service. Is already compatible with Google Docs, Google Photos, Blogger, WordPress, Koofr, Dropbox and Backblaze. And now also with the aforementioned Google Calendar and Photobucket.
What is this new union of Facebook and Google Calendar and Photobucket for?
The addition of Photobucket means there is a new destination for your photos and videos. This is a website that receive images, video, slideshows and photos created in 2003 And that has survived the years, although in 2017 it announced that it was becoming a payment platform.
For its part, Google Calendar has been specifically added to support the transfer of event data for the first time. In this way you can continue to track the events that occur and set notifications in the Calendar without having to enter them all manually.
How to do it
To transfer a copy of your information you must click on the down arrow that appears in the upper right corner of your Faceboook page on your desktop, near your name. Choose the Settings and privacy option and click Settings. In the left column, click Your Facebook info.
Next to Transfer a copy of your information, click View. You may need to retype your Facebook password. Here you can select a destination based on what you want to transfer. Plus, you can see if each destination accepts photos, videos, posts, notes, events, or other information.
In the case of Google Calendar, the advantage is that you can transfer information about your events. You can select which events you want to transfer (it can be all or only the events of a specific date range or certain events). When you’re done, click Next. Click Connect and start the transfer. I know will direct you to your destination service to log in. Then just follow the onscreen instructions to confirm the transfer.
New features
Regarding the new Transfer Your Information (TYI) functions announced by Facebook, we found that now users can more easily see which destinations and what types of data they are compatible. The Menlo Park social network says there is “the possibility of simultaneously initiating several data transfers for the same destination.”
Finally, point out that there are new filters that allow you to select with greater precision the data to be transferred.
