Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton has been publicly denounced for changing his dog’s diet in order to make him vegan. This is what we know.
In addition to being one of the most important pilots today, Lewis Hamilton has been characterized as one of the most popular athletes in promoting a vegan lifestyle, so much so that he has even tried to transfer these “teachings” to his pet. .
Hamilton himself has created an Instagram account for his English bulldog, named Roscoe Hamilton (@roscoelovescoco), in which he describes himself as “vegan”.
However, this simple fact can land you in prison with a sentence of up to 51 weeks, because, in reality, you are committing a serious crime, a very serious offense in the United Kingdom.
In this region, there is a very strict law that protects animals and in it, called the “United Kingdom Animal Welfare Act” it is established that, in effect, the British pilot is committing a crime for which he could spend 51 weeks in prison, which is irrevocable, and pay a fine of 24 thousand euros.
According to information published by El Universal, the president of the British Veterinary Association, Daniella Dos Santos, expressed the following regarding the pilot’s case:
“If your personal belief system means that you don’t want to eat any animal protein, that’s fine, but that diet is not designed to meet your pet’s welfare standards.”
And it is that the Animal Welfare Law of the United Kingdom establishes that, as part of an adequate diet, the meat cannot be withdrawn from dogs, as it represents a very important food intake for the animal.
Now, that does not mean that it is impossible to feed a dog through a vegan diet, but, to do so, a very strict control is required and the advice of a highly trained nutritionist and specialist in the subject is needed, as well as with extensive knowledge in veterinary medicine.
Should he continue to commit such offense, in addition to spending a long time in prison and paying a fine of £ 20, Hamilton could also have his pet taken away.
So far, the complaint is only public and not legal. In fact, the lack of the pilot was reported, precisely through his dog’s Instagram account, in which, as we already mentioned, he is described as a “vegan who loves to travel”.
The person responsible for this complaint was the organization The Blue Cross, considering inappropriate the fact that Hamilton has changed his dog’s diet to make him vegan.
Should the situation go to the legal field, that is where the pilot would be in quite serious trouble and, as reported, could have serious consequences.
