Netflix continues to add series to its catalog (and even content that is not series or movies), and is signing many great directors as he did in previous years, for example with Scorssese.
This time the project is a series and the big name is that of Tim Burton, director of hits like Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas or Sleepy hollow. In February the news broke that would direct a live action series related to the Addams family and with the passage of time we have learned more than what will be Tim Burton’s first Netflix series.
What is the new Tim Burton series about
The Addams Family It was created in 1938 by American cartoonist Charles Addams for The New Yorker. Series and movies have been made over the years and now a new project is underway.
Tim Burton, director and executive producer of the new series, has created an Addams spin-off focused on the family’s teenage daughter, Wednesday Addams. Al Gough and Miles Millar will be the showrunners, and the series has been presented as a twist on what we already know.
According to the official synopsis, this youth mystery series with supernatural touches, “Shows Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday will attempt to master his emerging psychic ability, thwart a murder spree that has terrorized the local city, and solve the supernatural mystery that entangled his parents 25 years ago, all while grappling with his complicated new relationships in Nevermore. “

How many chapters will it have
This series will start with eight chapters in its first season. It is not intended as a miniseries, so it is likely that if it is successful, new seasons will be shot that follow the adventures of Wednesday Addams in the following years at Nevermore Academy.
The release date of Wednesday
Is scheduled for fall 2022, possibly coinciding with Halloween as Netflix already did with other series of this theme (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), but it is still in the middle of the filming process, so there is no official release date.
The trailer of the series
No first images, no trailer. We have not yet been able to see more than the poster that announced the project and that illustrates the cover of this article. We still have a while to see it, but knowing that the project is already underway we love it. And while we wait, we can watch the latest animated movie, The Addams Family 2: The Great Getaway which opens in theaters on October 8.
