Skull & Bones was presented during the Ubisoft conference at E3 2017. This new pirate IP was scheduled to have hit the market during 2020, but a series of delays have led it to be released at the end of this 2022. Skull and Bones had been missing in high seas, and rumors of multiple reboots in development weren’t helping, but luckily we’ve already learned that Skull and Bones will be available on November 8 exclusively for next-gen consoles, Xbox Series X|S and PS5, as well as PC. So now, from the writing of SomosXbox we have prepared a good article with everything we know about Skull and Bones.
One of the peculiarities of this new title of Ubisoft is that it takes place in an open world that will be shared with other players, as is the case with Sea of Thieves, where we can sail alongside other pirates or betray them to keep all the loot. But in order to become a top-notch pirate, we’ll first have to overcome all kinds of dangers and challenges to carve out a niche for ourselves among the best pirates in the dangerous paradise that we’ll cross and enjoy on foot, being outcasts from the start.
Everything we know about Skull and Bones, Ubisoft’s new pirate adventure
When will Skull and Bones arrive?
From the beginning, Ubisoft had in mind that the game would be ready to be released during 2018, but it ended up being delayed until 2020. Some time later, one of the most striking projects of the French company was was delayed again without a specific dateraising fears about a possible cancellation, although producer Karl von der Luhe commented that this happened to polish the game as much as possible.
Although, after a long wait and a lot of work by Ubisoft, we finally know that the release date of Skull and Bones is already marked on the calendar for November 8, 2022, at which time we can set sail and sail the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy, with the aim of becoming dark and successful pirates on our Xbox Series X|S. Who doesn’t dream of becoming Jack Sparrow, Red Beard or Black Beard from Skull and Bones?
What will we find in the world of Skull and Bones?
The main theme of Skull and Bones will be naval battles with the clear objective of getting the loot from our enemies and thus becoming the most feared pirate of the 7 seas. The recent trailer and gameplay already gives us plenty of examples of what the way to the top will be like. In terms of navigation, the style will be very similar to that of Sea of Thieves or Assasin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, where we were already able to enjoy pirate life with the captain and assassin Edward Kenway.
Our adventure will begin in Sainte-Anne, an island in the Seychelles not so paradisiacal at the time, and that will be our base after a few adventures that allow us to advance in our story. Determined to take the reins of our character, that is when we then begin to build a concrete reputation to aspire to climb positions among the most renowned pirates in the region.
The idea that Ubisoft proposes to us is that users come together as a team combining skills to defeat the rest of the pirates and their great warships, but be careful with alliances since even your best friend can rebel against you in order to obtain all the loot as we sail the dark and dangerous seas.
The weather will also play an important role, just like in Sea of Thieves, storms will create problems for us when it comes to sailing. We will also see typhoons, high winds and we could even see thunderstorms. Another of our enemies will be the dreaded Kraken. Said sea monster appeared in the E3 2017 trailer, implying that he will have life in Skull & Bones and will create problems for us in the immense, lonely and disturbing ocean.
Personalization, Progression and Activities
The game will revolve around the Infamy system, which is related to our reputation that should be increased to progress and be a great pirate. The more experience we gain through various activities, the higher our level will be. In this way, as we grow, we can unlock new missions, weapons, armor and other types of cosmetic elements such as sails, figures and much more to customize both our ship and ourselves.
This is what the first Skull and Bones gameplay looks like
Although we will be able to play solo, Skull and Bones is considered a cooperative-focused adventure, which is important to defeat the most dangerous opponents and, therefore, obtain maximum loot. The phases on land will allow us to get contracts and talk to the different characters, but the naval combat is the one that remains at the center of the experience.
If you are not interested in PvP, please know that Ubisoft has planned PvE only servers for those who wish to enjoy Skull and Bones at their own pace and without necessarily being constantly under threat. It seems that each server will be able to have up to 20 real players, but the game world will also be littered with more and less important NPCs.
In Skull and Bones we will also have outposts to exchange and collect cards, or even dynamic events that will allow us to recover as much loot as possible. Speaking of events, we were also able to witness from afar the looting of a fort, this one defending itself with towers and human reinforcements while our cannons try to destroy the place. We add that the game will have a lot of post-launch content that will be free.
Ubisoft seems to have achieved a serious pirate game, where we will feel how the wind blows the sails, the wood creaks under our feet and our crew feels alive in our ship while the waves break our way to be the most respected pirate from the shores from East Africa to India. Finally, we remind you that we will be updating this article with everything we know about Skull and Bones, until it is released on the market in a few months.
