The use and abuse of drugs is a serious problem, the main consequence of which is to avoid a reality that can be very hard. In the case of women with this dependency, this reality can be twice as strong, as some of them become mothers of small addicts.
These babies are born addicts, even called? Heroin babies? because there has been a notable increase in the case of children of women addicted to heroin. And the way they get this disease is through the womb of their mothers.
In the United States alone, an addicted baby is born every 19 minutes, and in the last decade, there have been more than 130,000 cases. It is an alarming figure due to the symptoms and conditions that they present: premature births, malformations, heart problems, mental retardation, seizures and withdrawal syndrome.
These last two symptoms can be seen in the following video, which shows a newborn with heroin addiction and premature birth:
The video produced by the Reuters agency reveals the case of an addicted mother, who through the womb transmitted the addiction to her little one. It is only a few minutes of the difficult first week that every baby with this problem must survive because of the withdrawal syndrome.
Once this period is over, they begin to stabilize, recover, are treated permanently and have the possibility of starting again under the care and protection of their family.
