The accusations made last September against Tesla for alleged cheating in the security tests carried out by official bodies have been answered by Euro NCAP, which has already concluded its investigation.
On September 13, we informed you of the accusations against the American manufacturer of electric cars, Tesla. These suspicions arose as a result of discovering a computer code capable of detecting at the time the vehicle was being used for Euro NCAP and Australasian NCAP safety tests.
Tesla argued that said code has been designed to identify the region in which the vehicle is being tested, since not all of them carry out the same tests. As a result of what happened, the European body started an investigation that has already finished.
“It is possible that the GPS location is used to identify that the car is on a specific test track, but Tesla strongly denies this”
Tesla does not cheat
This matter quickly recalled the famous dieselgatein which a computer code inserted in the vehicle software detected the consumption and emissions test to falsify the results.
The accusation against Tesla occurred after the Model Y achieved the best score in the history of Euro NCAP, which in addition to achieving 5 stars it achieved a score of 97 out of 100 in safety for adult passengers and 98 out of 100 in ADAS systems.
However, Euro NCAP has concluded that there is no cheating and that the results obtained by Tesla are legitimate.

In a informative email sent to CNNsaid body indicates that “The integrity of the star rating scheme is of paramount importance to Euro NCAP And we will continue to do everything we can to ensure the rating reflects the safety consumers can expect from their vehicles.”
Next, Euro NCAP states that, “So far, investigations have revealed no evidence of an attempt to ‘cheat’ the evidence by Tesla”.
“It is possible that the GPS location is used to identify that the car is on a specific test track,” said Euro NCAP program director Aled Williams. “It is one of the possibilities that we put to Tesla and they flatly deny that this is done”.
“Different regions (such as Europe, Australasia, etc.) differ in terms of legislation, as well as road conditions/markings, etc.,” Williams wrote. “The recent addition of ANCAP to the Model Y code coincides with the start of sales of that vehicle in Australasia”he concluded.
Of course, in Japan this has not served to silence the rumors and criticism, since the researchers have not been able to clarify the situation or detect a code that identifies the region in which the tests are carried out.
