The decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) created in favor of the journalist and founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, has raised more than USD 40 million or about 13,400 ethers (ETH), in a matter of 96 hours.
so what shows AssangeDAO, the organization that plans to raise ethers, the native currency of Ethereum, to bid for a piece of the collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT), Censored, which will be launched by the digital artist Pak, in support of Assange.
In words of edward snowden, WikiLeaks co-founder, the NFT on Julian Assange is doing “real numbers”. To him, the move looks a lot like a protest vote against the White House and the US Espionage Act.

The collection, which is being carried out through JuiceBox, a decentralized platform dedicated to receiving donations, it is updated every second and there are already at least 12,500 collaborators.
This occurs two days after CriptoNoticias reported that, in a matter of 48 hours, more than 2,000 ethers were collected by the DAO, whose purpose is to support the defense of Assange, whom the United States (USA) asks to judge him for alleged crimes of espionage.
At the close of this article, around 13,629 ethers have been raisedor what is equal to about USD 42,481,593, according to the CriptoNoticias Price Calculator.
It is worth remembering that, as planned, the Censored collection would be published today Monday February 7 in a marketplace defined by the artist himself who designed the collectibles. As they pointed out, the collection has a dynamic one-to-one parity NFT, as well as an open edition “where anyone can participate.”
AssangeDAO reiterates that the proceeds from the sale of the NFT collection will benefit Julian Assange’s defense fundfor payments of legal fees and the entire campaign that seeks to “raise awareness of the Julian extradition case.”
Walking from December 2021
The decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) in favor of the journalist took its first steps in December 2021 through the Telegram social network. It was just the day that the United States government won an appeal of a British court ruling that prohibited the extradition of Julian Assange.
According to the organization, after the group was formed on Telegram, the communicator’s brother, Gabriel Shipton, reported that, in effect, the creation of an NFT to be auctioned off to raise funds was underway.
In this sense, they clarified that the DAO, upon receiving the ETH from the collaborators, would deliver a governance token in exchange, called $JUSTICE, that will govern the function of the decentralized autonomous organization.
Assange, supported by the community
Since Julian Assange was arrested, the cryptocurrency community has rallied his support. CriptoNoticias has reported it this way. In 2019, for example, and after his capture, bitcoin donations to Wikileaks skyrocketed.
It was also known that a portrait of Assange was auctioned for 1 bitcoin in 2021. It was a work of art made with 1 US dollar bills, a country that wants to lock him up for life.
As it became known, the founder of WikiLeaks was arrested in 2019 in London after his asylum status was stripped from him by the Ecuadorian government. He was accused, among other things, to reveal US national security information, which was published on the information portal.
One of the publications that raised the dust the most were those related to the War in Afghanistan and the alleged crimes committed by the US Army during its stay in that country.
