Through her Twitter account, Estefanía Veloz shared her opinion regarding the “boycott” of comedian Carlos Ballarta, thereby unleashing various criticisms and comments against her, as well as a debate among Internet users.
Twitter has been, for many years, the social network where the conversations of Internet users usually generate all kinds of controversies, many of which even go beyond the digital scene.
Putting it in more concise figures, today there are billions of users who are connected to the internet and, of course, to social networks, where Facebook is the leading platform in the market with almost 3 billion registered users, as mentioned by DataReportal.
Taking this as a starting point, it should be noted that Twitter, since its foundation in 2006, has managed to bring together a community of more than 400 million active users so fareven though, according to official data, there are more than a billion accounts registered.
It is true: in many ways, digitization, which, according to specialists, can find its starting point since the arrival of smartphones, has changed people’s daily lives and, with it, their consumption habits, entertainment and even their way to communicate with each other.
Currently, we know that short video platforms are the ones that dominate the scene, especially among young Internet users, both millennials and centennials, making it clear that spaces like TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat are on the radar of users.
However, although it is true that its popularity has decreased considerably and that, in recent days, the controversy has not ceased to be on its side, reality dictates that Twitter continues to be one of the most essential platforms for positioning brand and, of course, to give an opinion on everything that happens in the world.
Estefanía Veloz gives her opinion on the “boycott” of Carlos Ballarta and the post comes out against him
A few days ago, a new controversy came through Twitter thanks to the post of a member of the LGBTQI + community, who, in his tweet, called Netflix due to a “bitter drink” -as he describes it- after seeing the special of stand up of the comedian Carlos Ballarta.
According to what can be read in said tweet, Carlos Ballarta “makes an offensive, insensitive and stigmatizing joke” against the population seropositivea phenomenon known as serophobia.
As an addition, it is worth highlighting the most recent projections of the World Health Organization (WHO), which indicate that, currently, 25 million HIV positive people they are in Africa, three million 500 thousand in Southeast Asia; three million 300 thousand in America; 2.4 million in Europe and 36.7 million worldwide.
The controversy has not stopped and, from this, a “boycott” has emerged against Carlos Ballarta himself, where various Internet users give their opinion on the matter, one of them being Estefanía Veloz, who was the presenter of the program “De Buena Fe” on Canal Once and that, through his Twitter account, he defended the Netflix comedian.
For some time now, “pro-life” groups have been seeking to boycott Carlos Ballarta for talking about legal abortion and criticizing the Catholic Church. The campaign against him comes from there.
Ballarta is the only famous comedian on the left, obviously they are going to want to silence him. ????

As is often the case, a significant number of users did not remain “silent” and launched all kinds of criticism of the tweeter, although said tweet was also the pretext to open a debate on comedy and the “limits” that it should have.
Estefania, what you want to pretend is to divert the subject: that you made fun of children with AIDS. It has nothing to do with being on the left, don’t be ridiculous. The same thing happened to Platanito with the “kentucky fried children” when making fun of the ABC case. It is not egg to defend bullshit

I mean when they are your compás, there is no fart

But that in no way excuses phobic, stigmatizing and misinforming bad comments especially about people living with HIV.

If you excuse carnal. Besides, no mmar, it’s a stand up monologue, not an academic paper.

What Estefanía says makes sense, but also when Chumel made his jokes, they asked for and celebrated his cancellation, I think that comedy should be like that, even though Carlos and Chumel are diametrically opposed, they should have that freedom.

Both should have that right. There is black humor but well… it’s really complicated. Ballarta (what I have seen) has an interest in a certain reflection and makes use of the same thing as Chumel. It is already a matter of taste and affinity of ideas.

Social networks, today, play a role of great importance for a society -a global society- much more connected and linked to digitization.
