The staff employed in the mexican manufacturing grew 1.6% year-on-year at the end of 2022, when it exceeded 9.5 million workersinformed this Tuesday the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
The monthly survey of the manufacturing industry (EMIM) of the Inegi, with the main indicators of the sector, also enunciated a growth 1.2% in total hours worked and 1.4% in average employee remuneration, based on original figures.
On the other hand, there was a 2.4% year-on-year increase in December in the behavior of plant capacity used, that is, the relationship between the volume of production obtained and the volume of potential production that could be generated.
The sectors with the highest year-on-year increases in employed personnel were the manufacture of computer equipment, communication, measurement and other electronic equipment, components and accessories (6.3%), and the manufacturing of transportation equipment (6.3%).
In contrast, the items that showed the greatest falls were the manufacture of textile products, except clothing (-7.6%), and the manufacture of furniture, mattresses and blinds (-6.2%).
When considering only December, based on seasonally adjusted figures, total employed personnel increased 0.1% per month, hours worked increased 0.6%, and average remunerations 1.2%.
The EMIM is revealed a week after spreading that the Industrial production in Mexico grew by 3.3% per year in 2022 driven in particular by the manufactures.
The figures are a reflection of the behavior of the Mexican economy, which grew 3% annually in 2022, according to the timely estimate released by Inegi two weeks ago.
They also correspond to the rise in total exports in 2022, when they rose 16.9% annually to a value of 578,193.4 million dollars, with more than 80% of them destined for the United States.
