Alpine’s interest in bringing forward the premiere of the new lightweight floor to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola made it impossible for the two team drivers to use it. Finally the chosen one has been Fernando Alonso.
Throughout this week much has been said about the novelties that Alpine expected to debut in the fourth round of the championship: the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix which from 13:30 today is held at the Imola circuit.
The main reason for this was that the team had decided to bring forward the introduction of a new soil modified and also lighter. A piece that was initially going to be premiered at the next Miami Grand Prix, but that has finally been brought to Italian lands.
In addition to having been modified in its shape to try to minimize the effects of porpoising, it is lighter than the previous one.
However, that program change has meant that Alpine has not had time to make two unitsso one of the two drivers was doomed to compete on the old floor for at least one more weekend.
Finally, the managers and engineers of Alpine have decided to install the new floor in the car of Fernando Alonso, which you can use this weekend. Of course, it is not very clear if it will be of any use, since the team has to validate its correct operation before deciding whether to keep it for the rest of the weekend and the weather forecast for this Friday it is very unfavorable.
In case of not being able to roll with a certain normality, it is most likely that Fernando Alonso and his engineers will decide to do without the new floor and the original plan to test it properly in Miami will take shape again.
A lighter Alpine A522
This new floor, in addition to having been modified in its shape to try to minimize the effects of the pouringit is lighter than the previous one to try bring the Alpine A522 closer to minimum weight. A goal that virtually no line-up on the grid has yet achieved as a result of the new regulations.
